What is Henry's Hat?
Henry’s Hat is an Improv and Creativity training organization founded by Jim DeSimone and dedicated to helping creative companies and individuals tap into a fun and different way to approach what they do.
Improv requires actors to create characters, storylines, and relationships, to wrap them up in comedy, and to do it on the spot. No rehearsal. No pre-planning. No script. No safety net. As anyone who has ventured into an Improv show or has seen “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” on TV can attest, achieving that is possible—and it’s fun.
What can Henry’s Hat do for me?
For the past 20 years, Jim has been learning, performing, and teaching Improv, including creating a course at Miami Ad School, and building and on-going community access class through Minneapolis Community Ed. And during that time, he has discovered that Improv can—and does—build skills and personal awareness in almost countless ways.
From speaking publicly, to communicating ideas in a group, to just being able to “wing it” without being terrified, Improv can help. Learning Improv is like taking a crash-course in yourself. Understanding and letting go of the barriers we all unknowingly create—to new ideas, to each other, to communication.
