Improv Workshops
I have been conducting improv classes and workshops for small groups and individuals for many years, and teaching both experienced and novice improvisors. I have coached several improv teams for their performances as well.
In my Improv workshops we will tackle all the pitfalls and roadblocks, and learn the techniques that improvisers use in performances and training: how to be loose, get out of your head, get over yourself, and being open for anything. And once you are, how to keep your mind open and your attitude focused and ready to go.
Workshops will focus on different scene and character aspects. As we progress through the workshop, I will debrief after each exercise and before we begin exploring the next element. I believe one of the best ways to learn is to see it done, so students will have equal time in watching and performing, and everyone will participate in the exercises as a group.
The main idea in learning these techniques is that we are all going to have fun and play like kids. No one will look any sillier than I will, so there is no pressure. When we are done, you will all walk out energized, aware of things you hadn’t been aware of in years, and with a heavy dose of fun. All you need to do is show up, dig in, and get moving. And not wear a tie or heels.
